Hello, ladies & gentlemen! I would like to welcome you to the VERY FIRST guest post ever to make it to best-ecig.co.uk. The wonderful ThatYorkyLass [also known as @traceymac40] was sent the Vaptio Wallcrawler Kit + Frogman tank as part of a Twitter promotion, and I agreed to give a little home to her review. Simply Eliquid provided the kit. All images you see are courtesy of The Vape Man [@VReciews].
Without any further ado, let’s jump right in!
(HUGE thanks to ThatYorkyLass for working with me on this little project! It was FUN!)
My Review of the Vaptio Wallcrawler with Frogman Tank Vape Kit
I had no preconceptions about the Wallcrawler before it arrived. On opening the box, I found the mod, warranty card and instruction booklets, one each for both the mod and tank. Both of these were very easy to understand.
On a separate layer underneath was the actual Frogman tank itself, charging wire, a spare set of O rings (always a bonus) and 2 x 0.4-ohm, coils, with a range of 30-80 watts. These are best vaped between 45 and 65 watts, which I found perfect for me; I usually vape at around 40 watts.
I was surprised at the size of the Wallcrawler; it seemed larger in the photos I’d seen online. It fits nicely in my hand and is surprisingly light; however, a lot of the main body is plastic, with the base and fire button in metal. It requires just 1 x 18650 battery. The instruction booklet states that the battery can be charged in the mod, so I thought I would put this to the test and compare first charging in the mod, and then charging in a battery charger.
I grabbed a brand new Fogstar 18650 2500mah/22A from the shelf and put into the Xtar MC2 charger, but I will come back to that later.
The Wallcrawler mod sports a funky 1.3-inch colour screen on one side, and a rather sinister looking spider on the other, hence the name, ‘Wallcrawler’. It also has a cobweb-like design in the plastic of the main body.
Five quick clicks of the huge metal fire button and you’re in business; ready to roll. The fire button is fabulously sensitive, firing no matter where you press it, apart from right at the very bottom. Sometimes, when I accessed the menu or tried to turn it off, the device would fire up accidentally.
The menu, accessed by pressing the fire button 3 times, is fairly straightforward and easy to navigate; there are four options — mode, settings, theme and back.
In Mode, you can choose between VW (Variable Voltage) or TC (Temperature Control).
In Settings, your options are: hard, normal or soft for your favoured draw.
The theme section, as yet, only has one option, but I’m hoping future firmware updates will expand on the options in this category. (It’s kinda handy that it’s already there though! Fingers crossed for a Disney theme!)
The Frogman Tank
Well, thanks to the awesome regulations that the TPD brought in, there will be no surprise when I tell you it’s a 2 ml tank, but OH MY GOD wow. What a tank!
Firstly, it’s a top fill tank. It is literally a case of a quick clockwise twist to release the top, filling through a couple of nice large apertures. You then realign the overhangs in the tank with the spaces in the top, with an anti-clockwise twist, and you’re back in business. It’s that simple, folks. The airflow twists easily and doesn’t spin around the bottom of the tank.
I figured I should try the tank with juices I had already tried (and knew the taste of well), so I went in with Polaris by Dr Fog as I absolutely love this liquid. (This was also gifted from the wonderful Danielle at Simply Eliquid)
As I mentioned earlier, I ordinarily vape at 40 watts, but this baby was having none of that. It fired immediately and I was shocked. I’ve never owned anything like this, what can I say? Just WOW! I wanted more so I went to 50 watts — it was great, definitely gives more and the flavour just gets better. I bumped it up to 60 watts — still great. C’mon, let’s go; 70 watts. Oh yes, it’s getting even better! The flavours I’m getting from my favourite liquid are now to die for; it’s got to be the tank.
I then tried putting my Aspire Cleito (+0.4-ohm coil) on the Wallcrawler, vaping between 45-60 watts. (Again, within the recommended range.) It was like I was using a different tank. I got a hint of flavour with it, but nothing like I’m used to from my Cleito.
I decided to try the Frogman tank on my Minikin Boost mod and, once again, I was able to go to a much higher wattage and still get immense flavour. And, oh my, how smooth?! It’s like vaping silk.
The more I use the Wallcrawler, the more I love it. I do have a few niggles though — the fire button is über sensitive and I can be a tad heavy-handed at times. I have accidentally pressed it when I’ve grabbed the mod on my way out. It is super sensitive and it fires every time I do it.
Maybe it’s my hands, but I also find, when gripping the mod and firing, I can accidentally knock the wattage up or down. I’m sure a firmware update could incorporate a lock function. (I hope it’s offered on an update!)
Finally and, again this could just be me, but I do struggle a little to get the screw cap off for the battery compartment. Then again, I want my battery well installed and not slopping around in the chamber, so this being a tad tough isn’t a bad thing.
Charging the battery up in the mod itself takes about an hour, but then obviously discharges pretty quick too. On the same day that I charged the battery in the mod, I replaced the battery twice.
When it had a full charge (from drained) in the charger, it lasted all day and possibly even into the next morning, depending on how much I vaped with it.
My Review of the Vaptio Wallcrawler Kit with Frogman Tank – Conclusion
Overall, I would highly recommend this product. Despite the mainly plastic body, it is very sturdy and survived its journey on my daily commute in the handbag of doom and, in spite of this, there’s not one single scratch.
The Frogman tank is really economical with eliquid, the original coil lasting me a full two weeks. After cleaning it a couple of times the motif started to wear away, but as that is just decoration, I find it a neither here-nor-there issue. This is now my everyday go-to mod!
My rating? A 5/5 ⭐️for this wonderful bit of kit!
