[AD – Gifted by Vape Club] Hey, vapers! What new flavours have you been trying out lately? I’ve been giving 100 Large Grape Expectations a shot and … well, it’s not a very happy tale, I’m afraid.
Don’t worry about grabbing a drink, folks, because I am BRINGING the tea.
ABOUT 100 LARGE
This is my third review of 100 Large eliquids, sent to me by Vape Club, initially kicking things off with Donut Worry, before moving on to Zest Pest and then Fresh Pink of Bel Air. I started with the flavours I thought I might like … leaving the ones I thought I probably wouldn’t until last. No offence to 100 Large at all but we already know that I don’t like icy/menthol eliquids that much, so Berry Cold isn’t going to be something I appreciate much. And I can’t stand banana, so that’s Banana Haze out the window too. The smell and taste of banana actually make me heave, so I passed that one over to a friend who I thought might enjoy it. What would I do with it otherwise? Give it a bad review?
“It tastes rank because banana tastes rank to me.”
That doesn’t seem fair.
As well as the ones I’ve already mentioned, there are now some new eliquids in the lineup — 50 Large [50ml bottles] Pecanilla, Kiwimelon, Crispy Coffee, Creamy Strawbz, Berry N’ Ice, Bango Mango.
Erm … what’s the difference between Berry Cold and Berry N’ Ice? Surely that’s the same flavour? No? Do I need educating?
You can pick these little box sets up at Vape club for £17.99, giving you everything you need to get started — 100ml of 0mg eliquid in a 120ml bottle, and 2 x 18mg nicotine shots to make it up to 120ml of 3mg. You can also double up for £35.
The 50 Large range are available for £11.99 for 50ml of eliquid in a 60ml capacity bottle + 1 x 10ml 18mg nicotine shot.
When all mixed up and ready to vape, you’ll have yourself a 70/30 VG/PG [sub-ohm] eliquid.
100 LARGE GRAPE EXPECTATIONS ELIQUID REVIEW
I poured my two little nicotine shots into the big bottle, gave it a good shake, and then left it probably for about four to six weeks. It was a long time. Too long. Grape isn’t one of my best flavours, though … (and better, cake-based flavours came through my door. I couldn’t resist ‘em.)
Once I was ready, I initially taste-tested Grape Expectations in Jac Vapour’s VIM, but to finish off this review today, I thought I might drip a bit into my Vapefly Pixie RDA (my go-to tank for testing now) + 0.5-ohm coil, on top of the Vapor Storm Subverter box mod at 30 watts.
Taking a deep sniff from the bottle, it definitely smells like grape juice in a carton. It’s quite a strong, fruity smell, actually — a real burst of it. There’s a twang of something else in there, but I couldn’t work out what it was from the smell alone. If I’m being really honest about it, the smell was a bit … weird. Strong, pungent, flavoursome, but weird.
“Grape Expectations eliquid is a balance of sweet and dark notes. The blend is made up a of a trio of grape flavours. The combination of black, green and red grape fuses together through vaping providing a juicy taste undercut by sweetly tart notes. On exhale a fizzy water flavour creates a fresh finish.”
Gosh, it’s like poetry, isn’t it? It cracks me up, the way they sell these flavours. It’s like you’re popping open a really expensive bottle of wine!
“Ah, yes, the balance of sweet and dark notes really do come together in this trio of grape flavours, for a wonderfully rich Bordeaux-de-plonk-de-blah-blah-blah.”
Or whatever. I’m no wine connoisseur. When I did drink, I was a Babycham girl. Martini Asti, if it was a special occasion.
Final note: There’s *NO* cooling agent in this eliquid. If you’d like to check out more eliquid reviews without cooling agent, you’ll find them right here.
So, before I go any further, I would like to throw a little disclaimer out there.
Are you ready?
I don’t think grape-flavoured anything actually tastes like real grapes. Not grape juice, not grape candy, and definitely not grape eliquid. I’m sorry, that’s just the way I think. It means that I’m probably NOT going to think this eliquid tastes like *real* grapes, in advance.
Grape Expectations doesn’t taste like grape. Not real grapes or fake grape-flavoured stuff. Not to me. It tastes weird and I actually double-checked the flavour description because I thought it had kiwi in it. I’m sure I can taste kiwi, even now, but it’s not there. Definitely not. I kept trying the juice, picking it up and giving it a try now and then, but it didn’t ever seem to settle down into an actual flavour. Just a mix-match of weirdness. And it really is weird too. It almost tastes like cough medicine, except cough medicine is actually nicer.
*Here comes the bashing!*
I think Grape Expectations tastes really … synthetic. And weird. It almost tastes like grape juice or grape candy (the stuff that doesn’t actually taste like grape at all), but the creators have got something way off. I’m not sure what it is, maybe the fizzy water addition at the end, perhaps? Whatever it is, I definitely don’t like it. This one made me pull a really unattractive face. I know that because my wonderful boyfriend captured a photo of it and keeps threatening to share it on Facebook.
THROAT HIT & VAPOUR
I had a hard time getting a good “average” for Grape Expectations because I found myself faffing around with the watts so often. I had to turn the watts down from my regular 45-55 to about 30 to ensure the flavour wasn’t so much that it was REALLY unpleasant. At 30 watts, though, I don’t feel like I got enough vapour out of it. The higher it was, the more flavour I got, and the more I didn’t like it.
All in all, I just think this flavour isn’t for me. If I need to work that hard to make it work, it ain’t worth it. Sorry, not sorry.
Not only that, my eliquid seemed really cloudy. My photos aren’t the best and I’m not sure if you can see what I’m talking about, but when I compared Grape Expectations to the other flavours in the 100 Large range, I just found this one to be murkier and cloudier. It did settle down a bit, but even after a few weeks of sitting on a shelf the eliquid still looked unpleasantly murky.
100 LARGE GRAPE EXPECTATIONS ELIQUID REVIEW – CONCLUSION
I’m sorry, 100 Large, but this one isn’t my cup of tea at all. In fact, it’s one that I’d rather forget. I was already going into the review with a somewhat negative state of mind because I’m not a big lover of grape-flavoured stuff, but I was disappointed in the flavour of this juice a lot more than I thought I was going to be. Zest Pest was disappointing because it was too watered down. This one has the opposite problem – there’s too much flavour. And the flavour isn’t true-to-taste … or even that pleasant, to be honest.
Would I buy 100 Large Grape Expectations eliquid again?
Lol, I think we’ve already guessed the answer to this question is a firm no.
Would I recommend 100 Large Grape Expectations eliquid to you?
Not really. I can’t even recommend it to people who actually like grape-flavoured eliquids, because it doesn’t taste like grape-flavoured stuff. Not quite. I haven’t tried that many grape-based flavours, but there’s gotta be something out there that’s more grape-like than this. (Slash nicer.)
Have you tried any of the 100 Large range? What did you think? Which one was your favourite? I’d love to know your thoughts so, feel free to leave your review in the space for comments below this post. Thanks for reading my review today!
I didn’t like Grape Expectations, but I can highly recommend these:
