One of the things I seem to be asked a lot these days is “Can You Refill The Vype ePen?”.
Now as you can see from the Vype ePen review, I tried it and it wasn’t really my cup of tea. For some people it does work well as a nicotine replacement method, and it tends to be especially popular among the older e-cig smokers rather than the younger ones who are looking for something bulkier, shinier, more powerful, etc.
The Vype ePen doesn’t really look like other regular e-cigarettes. It’s not round for a start more oval in shape. It’s a lot bigger than you first might expect too. It was definitely a lot bigger than I thought it looked on the TV. The cartridges on these are not like the cartridges you’d find with other e-cigarettes, or cig-a-likes, and although it’s pretty easy to refill your own cartridges, it would seem that you CANNOT refill the Vype ePen cartridges.
Unlike most other e-cig cartridges, you can see right through the clear plastic of the Vype ePen ones, so you won’t need to worry about that nasty burnt out taste that you get with the ‘regulars’ and their dried out fluff-filler. The Vype cartridges are also considerably bigger than regular e-cig cartridges too.
Underneath the shiny foil, you can see that the cartridge has a plastic outer that goes all the way down and covers the metal component that screws the whole thing onto the battery. I did attempt to pull the metal component out of the plastic casing but was unable to do so. Nor could I find any other way to get these bad boys apart and refill them myself.
If you were using these as a ‘regular’ smoker would, you’d definitely go through more than one cartridge per day, and at £7.99 for a pack of three refills, things are going to get mighty expensive. If you could refill your own cartridges I’d say go for it, but knowing that you are restricted to those cartridges and those cartridges alone kinda worries me – What happens if the post gets delayed or there’s a problem with your order? You’ll have no backup plan – no contingency. You can’t refill, or use another brand of cartridges that you happen to have at home like you can with a lot of the other brands. It doesn’t make sense to me at all.
So, Can You Refill The Vype ePen?
No, sadly. You can’t refill the Vype ePen which is pretty disappointing. In fact, there were a few things about this new and innovative e-cigarette that I found pretty disappointing and you can find out more on the review:
If you’re currently consider buying the Vype ePen, may I suggest that you don’t? For just £5 more you could get something much better, such as the Vapouriz Fuse. If you have a little bit more to spare, I’d highly suggest going with one of the Jac Vapour 510 models – I love the Twist with variable voltage and again, you can read more about that over in the Jac Vapour 510 Twist Review.
I just don’t think the Vype ePen is viable option longterm, especially if you can’t refill it! Sorry Vype!
