Can You Refill The Vype ePen?

One of the things I seem to be asked a lot these days is “Can You Refill The Vype ePen?”.

Now as you can see from the Vype ePen review, I tried it and it wasn’t really my cup of tea. For some people it does work well as a nicotine replacement method, and it tends to be especially popular among the older e-cig smokers rather than the younger ones who are looking for something bulkier, shinier, more powerful, etc.

The Vype ePen doesn’t really look like other regular e-cigarettes. It’s not round for a start more oval in shape. It’s a lot bigger than you first might expect too. It was definitely a lot bigger than I thought it looked on the TV. The cartridges on these are not like the cartridges you’d find with other e-cigarettes, or cig-a-likes, and although it’s pretty easy to refill your own cartridges, it would seem that you CANNOT refill the Vype ePen cartridges.

Unlike most other e-cig cartridges, you can see right through the clear plastic of the Vype ePen ones, so you won’t need to worry about that nasty burnt out taste that you get with the ‘regulars’ and their dried out fluff-filler. The Vype cartridges are also considerably bigger than regular e-cig cartridges too.

Underneath the shiny foil, you can see that the cartridge has a plastic outer that goes all the way down and covers the metal component that screws the whole thing onto the battery. I did attempt to pull the metal component out of the plastic casing but was unable to do so. Nor could I find any other way to get these bad boys apart and refill them myself.

If you were using these as a ‘regular’ smoker would, you’d definitely go through more than one cartridge per day, and at £7.99 for a pack of three refills, things are going to get mighty expensive. If you could refill your own cartridges I’d say go for it, but knowing that you are restricted to those cartridges and those cartridges alone kinda worries me – What happens if the post gets delayed or there’s a problem with your order? You’ll have no backup plan – no contingency. You can’t refill, or use another brand of cartridges that you happen to have at home like you can with a lot of the other brands. It doesn’t make sense to me at all.

So, Can You Refill The Vype ePen?

No, sadly. You can’t refill the Vype ePen which is pretty disappointing. In fact, there were a few things about this new and innovative e-cigarette that I found pretty disappointing and you can find out more on the review:

If you’re currently consider buying the Vype ePen, may I suggest that you don’t? For just £5 more you could get something much better, such as the Vapouriz Fuse. If you have a little bit more to spare, I’d highly suggest going with one of the Jac Vapour 510 models – I love the Twist with variable voltage and again, you can read more about that over in the Jac Vapour 510 Twist Review.

I just don’t think the Vype ePen is viable option longterm, especially if you can’t refill it! Sorry Vype!

  1. I have been a customer of vype for 9 months. I have never been sent any special offers. And upon going into the net to reorder my cartridges I noticed an offer for the kits which I was going to buy because my batteries are not holding the charge for very long. And I thought oh yes a perfect opportunity to get everything renewed at only 9.99 only to find the offer has finished. I have had an issue with a couple of there batteries and cartridges and I sent them several emails and not had any response from vype I have worked in the sales industry for some time in different capacities and never treated a customer like that.

    • I’m sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with them. I can’t comment on Vype themselves as I ordered my kit through Electric Tobacconist, who often has special offers (which is why I bought it in the first place). You can find the link to these on the Vype Review.

You must have had a good experience to have used it for nine months though! That’s good! Have you tried Tweeting / Facebook-ing Vype directly? Big companies generally tend to respond to social media complaints a lot quicker than emails, in my experience. (Remember – these are in the public eye!)

Hope this helps, but as always, let me know on here, Facebook or Twitter if you have any further questions.

      Happy Vaping! 🙂

  2. You can refill the epen cartridges, but it can get messy. Buy a bottle of blu liquid refill. Jam the plastic nozzle of the bottle into the opening on the metal end of the cartridge, whikest holding your finger tightly over the plastic end. Squeeze the liquid into the cartridge, taking care not to dislodge the nozzle. Once you’ve filled it up, wioe away any leakage with tissue. Finally, you need to cover the metal end with tissue and blow hard down the plastic hole to clear out any air bubbles. And there you go!

  3. Pls I have been trying to refill my vype e cig but am unable to do it can u help me out

  4. i refilled my cartridge easily by following a video on u tube ;

  5. Hi. I finally managed to refill an epen3. I used a bit of semi-melted wax to cover the plastic end. But 2 questions:

    1) The inhale hole fills up with liquid and it’s hard to get it out. Sucking the liquid into my mouth makes me ill. How to avoid this?

    2) What’s all this about having to replace the wick?
