So, I’m currently vaping on a rather delightful eliquid flavour – a custard-based flavour, but a nicer one than every other I’ve had before. If you’ve never checked out my YouTube channel, you’ll have missed me describing previous custard flavours as “tasting like feet” and also “smelling a bit like vomit”. It’s not that I don’t like custard. Quite the opposite, in fact. I’d happily eat the stuff all day, every day, especially now that winter is here. I just think that custard-based eliquids are quite difficult to get right.
You can’t tell me you haven’t tried one that’s been a bit funky around the edges …

That’s why I’m super excited about this review — the Halo Vapour Co Cream Custard review. Not just because I finally think I’ve found a custard juice I can vape tank after tank of, but also because it reminds of my favourite ever biscuit.
The humble custard cream.
The only problem is, I don’t know if it’s MEANT to taste like a custard cream.
I’ll explain in a moment …
About Halo Vapour Co
This is a brand of eliquids I’ve reviewed once before, but it was their lower-VG, mouth-to-lung eliquid range the first time around. This time I’m taking a look at their newest range — sub-ohm liquids in short fill bottles.
Owned and sold by ECigaretteDirect, a company that has been around since 2008, there are 20 different UK-made MTL flavours on offer, with classic tobacco flavours in there alongside really nice-sounding treats — Summer Strawberry, Manic Mango, Coffee Cream, etc.
Halo Vapour Co Shortfills
Only four of these flavours have been introduced as part of the sub-ohm, high-VG short fill eliquid range, and they are:
- Menthol Blend
- Cream Custard
- Tobacco Gold
- Forest Berry
I’m assuming that we’ll see more and more of the original flavours joining the club soon, but the four that are currently on offer are a pretty mixed bag, with one for everyone.
The high-VG eliquids are 70% VG and 30% PG, and you DO NOT get a nicotine shot included in the price – £14.99. I threw in a Plusnic Nicotine Booster – 10ml, 70/30 VG/PG, 1.8% or 18mg nicotine. (That’s £1.99 from the same website.)
Halo Vapour Co Cream Custard Eliquid Review
So … I read the name “Cream Custard” and automatically assumed it would taste like a custard cream biscuit. I don’t know why I thought that as it doesn’t actually say that, but I did. When the nice man at ECigaretteDirect spoke to me about the new flavours, specifically Cream Custard, I even enthused, “That’s my favourite biscuit!”.
Imagine my horror when I took a peek at the website and realise the flavour has nothing to do with custard creams or even biscuits at all. Instead, the website description says this:
“A seriously indulgent creamy vanilla custard that is instant mouthwatering material.”
Even Mister best-ecig said: “Where does it say custard cream biscuits, Kim?”
There was NO mention of a biscuit in the description. Not even the slightest whiff of it, but I’m sure I could and can taste it — the biscuit specifically. (I’m vaping it right now.) Either that or I’d convinced myself it would taste like custard cream before I’d even started tasting it and now my brain is just playing along.
Since I thought I’d made a tit out of myself for proclaiming my love of custard creams to a man who didn’t even mention them to begin with, I figured I might actually Google what a custard cream biscuit was. By that I mean, the actual specifics. I know what they are; I eat enough of them.
Big thanks to Wikipedia for providing me with this little description:
“Its structure is that of a sandwich, with a creamy, custard-flavoured centre between two flat biscuit layers. Traditionally, the filling was buttercream (which is still used in home-made recipes) but nowadays cheaper fats have replaced butter in mass-produced biscuits. The filling tastes of vanilla and as such is more akin to the taste of custard made with custard powder than egg custard. It is believed that the custard cream biscuit originated in Britain in 1908.”
I know you probably think I’m being petty here, but there is a very big difference between a big bowl full of actual custard, and a custard cream biscuit. One tastes like a biscuit for a start, and the other one doesn’t. This eliquid’s description seems to suggest a bowl full of custard.
So, I opened the big short fill bottle, and then the little nicotine shot, and I added little to big. I shook it all around for a few minutes, and then I left it to steep for a while. About an hour or two. (Which probably isn’t even long enough to class as steeping, I don’t know?) I unscrewed the top, poured it into my Aspire Cleito EXO tank (+0.4-ohm coil), and I gave it a good sniff.
It smells like a custard cream. Do you know how I know this? I was eating a pack of custard creams at the time. (Actually, I ate the ENTIRE pack, but that’s no one else’s business!) They smelled the same. I sniffed a biscuit, then the juice, and they’re pretty damn similar.
I don’t know if Cream Custard is meant to be the same as “custard cream”, but it sure does taste the same. All pettiness about the flavour description aside, this sweet eliquid is probably the closest I’ve ever gotten to a realistic custard-cream flavour, and I’ve tried a few. You can taste the biscuit, more so on the exhale, but also on the inhale, too. You also get a sweet and thick vanilla kick. It borders on being sickly-sweet, but without tipping it over the edge. I’m currently on my fifth or sixth tank of the stuff in a row, so it can’t be *that* sickly.
The thick liquid does seem to leave a bit of residue on the tongue when you vape it, but I think that depends quite a lot on the tank. I tasted a lot more of the actual juice in my mouth when I used the Aspire Cleito EXO tank than I did my Jac Vapour Series-S22 tank. And I’m not talking about spitting, gurgling or malfunctioning; I’m talking about sticky leftovers from thick, gloopy juice.
Throat Hit & Vapour
The 3mg short fill bottle produced pretty much what I would expect in terms of vapour, even from the Aspire Cleito EXO tank. (I don’t think it’s the best tank for big clouds.) The juice doesn’t have much of a throat hit, being a 3mg high-VG juice, but I do think it’s gruff and thick. It’s got a little bit of a kick to it, too, just like I find with lots of almost-too-sweet eliquids.
Halo Vapour Co Cream Custard Eliquid Review – Conclusion
I really like this eliquid, and it’s probably one of the first custard-based ones that I’ve liked enough to vape more than a couple of tankfuls for a while. I’m not sure if you’re meant to taste biscuit in it, but I can taste biscuit. And if you like the taste of custard cream biscuits as much as I do, you’re probably going to love the taste of this eliquid. That’s all I’m saying.
As a final note, this eliquid is one of those ones that just tastes better the longer you leave it to steep. There were about 3 or 4 weeks between first taste and the finishing-off of this review, and the taste intensified in all the good ways. The flavour got stronger and more pronounced, and I haven’t found myself getting bored of it yet!
Would I buy Halo Vapour Co Cream Custard eliquid again? I will buy Cream Custard again, but that’s probably because I’m an absolute biscuit fiend. (And I’m not afraid to say it.) I know I’ve been a tad (or a lot) petty about the name and description, but it’s spot on as far as custard cream biscuityness is concerned. I like it a lot.
Would I recommend Halo Vapour Co Cream Custard to you? If you don’t like eliquids that are thick, heavy and sweet, this one isn’t going to work for you, because it is all of those three things. It’s an eliquid I would probably reserve for winter, too. I definitely wouldn’t call it refreshing. It has more of a warming hit to it.
If you do like eliquids that taste exactly like a custard cream biscuit, this one is going to tick all of the right boxes for you. It certainly did for me, anyway!
