The iCIG Electronic Cigarette starter kit reminded me very much of SkyCig – one of the first e-cigarette brands that I quit smoking with. At the time I thought it was the biggest and best e-cigarettes you could your hands on… Now, with more experience in e-cig smoking, I realise that it’s a great style to start with, but not one made for long term use. Let’s see if iCIG worked out the same way in the review.
iCIG Starter Kit
You can get the iCIG electronic cigarette starter kit for just £24.99. For your money you will get one battery, one USB charger, and four cartridge refills. Available in both black and white, they look good and won’t take up too much space in your pocket, all coming in a nice little box kit that works out pretty much the same size as a regular cigarette packet.
Moving along to the cartridges and they give you a couple of flavours to have a play around with. You’ll get one menthol, one cherry, one apple and one tobacco flavour. You shouldn’t disregard the flavours either. You might think that you want tobacco but the other types come in refreshingly handy from time to time!
The cartridges are easily refilled by popping off the top with a hair grip or fork edge, and drip-feeding 10-15 drops of e-liquid in to the cartridge filler material. Give it a couple of seconds and pop the top back on, and then leave it a couple of minutes to settle down before smoking again. If you try it any sooner than this, you’ll probably get liquid in your mouth and that doesn’t taste great at all.
If the liquid starts pouring out of the bottom of the cartridge into your hand, you have refilled it too much so blow it out and leave it to dry, and remember not to the fill the other cartridges quite as much. If you keep doing this, you’ll either blow the cartridge or flood the battery – both of these will leave you without your e-cigarette.
You can get your hands on a pack of ten cartridge refills for the iCIG electronic cigarette for about £17, depending on where you get it from, and even better news is that there are a number of flavours available.
With apple, cherry, cigarette (original name…), menthol and vanilla, you can get them in 11mg, 18mg, and 24mg strengths. The 24mg is probably best for a heavier smoker. As a ‘regular’ smoker, I found the 18mg pretty decent.
The cartridge is said to last the equivalent of 20 cigarettes but I would say that was a little overestimated. As a general rule, I got about 10-15 cigarettes at best. Still, when you consider that you can get the refills for a fiver on Amazon, you can’t really complain. Technically, 4/5 days worth of smoking the iCIG electronic cigarette will cost just £5. It would cost over £20 if you were to smoke regular cigarettes.
The e-liquid from iCIG is pretty expensive so I would recommend having a shop around first. 30ml will set you back about £12.99. You can only get tobacco, cigarette and menthol flavours too, and they aren’t available in all strengths. This didn’t impress me much.
You can get new batteries for about £20 which is a bit expensive when you compare it to other brands, but this is direct from the website. On Amazon you can pick up a battery for about £5/£6. You can even get a portable charging case for about £20 too! These come in handy when you are out and about a lot – you can having it charging in your bag or pocket as long as you have remember to charge the case itself up… Which I often didn’t!
I didn’t need to get in touch with iCIG for a couple of reasons. I didn’t use the e-cigarette for long as I have found others that work better for me, and secondly because I didn’t have a problem with my order. Whether I got it from Amazon or direct from the iCIG website, everything went according to plan.
Do iCIG Electronic Cigarettes Work?
I did like using the iCIG electronic cigarette because it’s small, discreet and pretty funky to look at. With black and white available, it’s good for him or her, and the little box it comes in closely imitates a ‘regular’ cigarette packet.
Throat hit and vapour wasn’t bad to be honest, but as I’m very used to using tank style cigarettes, it couldn’t replicate the amount of both that I get from them, hence the fact I didn’t use this e-cigarette for very long. As I’ve said before, iCIG is a great one to start your journey with but after a while, you may just find that it doesn’t hit the spot quite as well as it did before.
The electronic cigarette does work, although the battery will only last about 4 hours or so with regular usage, and the flavours weren’t bad. They could have been a bit stronger but for most people, that’s a personal preference thing. One of my friends is still using iCIG six months down the line, and couldn’t even begin to imagine using anything else.
Are iCIG Electronic Cigarettes the Best E-Cigs?
I did like iCIG e-cigarettes but they just weren’t powerful enough for me because I am now classed as an ‘experienced‘ e-cigarette user. I like my e-cigarette to have some weight about it.
Saying this, when I first started using e-cigarettes, this type was one of the best e-cigarettes. It’s lightweight, easy to use, discreet enough to get away with in public places, and smart enough with both black and white available, so for newbies to the world of e-cigs, iCIG is pretty much perfect!
I’d give iCIG electronic cigarettes 3.5 stars out of 5 – they are perfect for newbies but if you’re pretty experience with the biggest and best e-cigarettes, this won’t be good enough for you.
