As you’ll know if you’ve been following me from a while, I recently dipped my toes into the world of sub-ohming – a way of vaping that uses (usually) lesser strength e-liquid, bigger batteries, bigger tanks and creates a whole load of cloud / vapour.
I started with the Vapouriz Sub Tank before moving on to the JacVapour Series B, but I felt it was time to go right back to where it started and have another shot at another well-received Vapouriz vaporiser. And here we are – the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod review. Let’s take a peek and see what I thought…
Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod – £29.99
The first thing you should know about the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod is that you get a tank with it designed for sub-ohm vaping – the Sub Tank Lite Clearomiser. You CAN use this box mod for ‘regular’ vaping, you’d just need to buy a slightly different tank for it. I bought the Aerotank Clearomiser and I LOVE it. I’ll go into that in more detail shortly.
Whether you want big clouds or discreet vaping, the V Box 40w is awesome. I might as well start off by saying that. It’s my every day vape now (as you’ll see if you check out my Instagram page @bestecig), and I alternate between using the Sub Tank Lite for when I want big clouds, and the Aerotank Clearomiser for when I want ‘regular’, discreet vaping.
In the kit itself, for £29.99 (and 10% off using my discount code UKWG10) you will get:
- 2200mAh box battery (fixed wattage)
- 4ml capacity Sub Tank Lite clearomiser
- Spare 0.5ohm Sub Series coil
- USB charger
You DON’T get e-liquid. With the Sub Tank Lite, you’ll want to look at their range of sub-ohm liquids.
If you want to use this box mod with a ‘regular’ tank for ‘regular’ (less vapour) vaping, you’ll want to look at investing in something like the Aerotank. That’s what I use alongside the Sub Tank Lite.
You only get ONE battery but to be honest, at 2200mAh, that’s all you’ll need to get kickstarted with.
Now I’m very well aware of how complicated this vaporiser looks but before I say anything else I just want to say that as far as sub-ohming (and regular vaping for that matter), this box mod is one of the easiest to use that I’ve ever come across. Some of my friends who’ve vaped with £100+ box units have tried the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod and ended up buying it. It’s a decent, simple device and one that I would recommend to BEGINNERS as well as the more experienced vapers.
Do not be put off by the complicated looking exterior.
You’ll get a 2200mAh fixed wattage battery with this box mod. The JacVapour Series B Tilt is one to look at if you want to play around with the wattage. Click the link to read the review – another great vaporiser but more expensive than the 40W Box Mod from Vapouriz.
If you’re ‘regular’ vaping with the Aerotank and regular liquid, you’ll get between 18 – 22 hours of ‘regular’ usage. I can happily use this all day and well into the next before I need to charge it up. If you want something that’ll last the day to just charge up at night, this is one of the best and cheapest on the market. For under £30, you’ll pay more for smaller and crappier batteries that won’t last halfway near as long as this one does.
If you’re using the Sub Tank Lite (which comes in the starter kit) and sub-ohm liquid, you’ll be using more battery with each puff so the life span is less, more like 12-15 hours of regular usage, and sometimes more than that. Obviously the more you use it, the faster it’ll die.
There are four lights along the battery and they show how much battery is left. When they flash, it needs charging. They glow when you use it, all pretty standard stuff. I couldn’t go back to an ecig or vaporiser battery without some sort of indication how much battery is left now. Although I loved the Vapouriz Sub Tank, I felt that indicator was missing. It’s a ‘thing’ for me now.
It’s about twice as wide as the Sub Tank, but doesn’t sit quite as high. I have quite small hands and it fits pretty neatly. The only thing I will say is that I felt Vapouriz should offer some sort of silicone or rubbery case for it. When I first started using it, the device kept slipping out of my hands and (as you can probably see from the pictures) it got banged up real fast. Luckily the thing is SUPER durable and hasn’t once broken down on me. And trust me on this, I dropped it a lot.
In short, the battery is awesome. 5/5 stars for the battery Vapouriz. But please make me a case so it doesn’t keep slipping out of my hands. Thanks! 🙂
Clearomisers / Tanks
As I’ve said before, you get the Sub Tank Lite clearomiser in the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod starter kit and I love it. I use that one and the Aerotank from Vapouriz again and I have no problems with them. I’ve bene using them both for months and aside from needing to replace the coil every few weeks, they work brilliantly. Even the coils seem to last a while with BOTH tanks I’ve used.
Throat Hit & Vapour
The throat hit and vapour you get from your Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod will very much depend on the kind of tank you’re using as well as the liquid you’re using too. If you want plenty of vapour, lots of clouds, you’re going to want to look at the Pure Evil or Pocket Fuel range from Vapouriz (which I love – click the links to read my reviews), and they work really well with the Sub Tank Lite.
If you want regular, discreet vaping and you’re not that bothered about lots of vapour, the Vapouriz range of liquids work really well with the Aerotank in my experience, and the flavours are lush too. Again, click HERE to read the reviews of the flavours and strengths I’ve tried so far.
Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod Review – The Conclusion
So… What do I think? I think the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod Review deserves the 5/5 star rating I’m about to give it. I loved the Vapouriz Sub Tank. I really loved the JacVapour Series-B Tilt. Now I’m 100% in love with this one – the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod.
If you don’t want to play around with wattages and just want something simple and easy to use, this one’s the one to go for. It’s cheap, much cheaper than some of the box units I’ve seen out there, and it does everything you want it to. It’s durable, can withstand a few knocks and drops, and it works. It’s never broken down on me, it’s never not worked, it doesn’t take forever to charge… I could keep going.
I’m going to play around with different tanks to see how they fair with this device but in the two or so months I’ve been using it, the Vapouriz V Box 40w Box Mod has been a dream to vape with and one I would highly recommend to anyone – those new to vaping and those who’ve already been vaping for a while.
For under £30, you’ve got yourself a winner here.
